Free government grants: Is it really true or a scam?
Starting a business can be very stressful especially if you have already run out of cash to do the final touches.
The least you would want when you are in this scenario is wrong information that initially lifts your spirit up only to pull it down after having discovered that it was indeed a false hope.
Hector Milla Editor of the “Free Scholarships And Grants” website — http://www.FreeScholarshipsAndGrants.org/free-government-grants-money — pointed out;
“…How many of young entrepreneurs like you believe that you can get free money from the government to start up their business? In reality, this has never been true. Only your parents will give you money with no strings attached so do not be fooled by those ads (and they are many) that claim they can help you get this money. You are looking for money precisely to fund your business and not to spend more…”
If you are small entrepreneur and you are eagerly hoping for cash from the government, please be guided by the following facts:
1. Small “for profit” businesses can hardly get any free cash from the government because the money is reserved for non-profit organizations and small “non-profit” businesses that can provide jobs to the poor and is located, usually, in a poor community.
2. Only businesses that are linked to research and development of new technology can actually be positive of a government grant, so if you are thinking of investing on a food franchise or putting up a store, do not even hope for money from the government. Only those who have the brightest minds in science and engineering can pass through these hard-to-obtain funds. Research projects can be granted $100,000 funds and $1 million for the productions of possible materials out of the researched ideas.
3. Even for those who are qualified for the grant, keep in mind that government funds are not given anytime. They have an application processes that is time-bound. So if you missed you chance to submit your proposal, do not think of being approved just yet. You might have to wait for the next cycle of application process or wait for a call to submit project proposals.
4. There is a slight hope you can get government money but it is not all free. Funds for small businesses can either be in the form of loans with interest or a measly 25% grant and a 75% money counterpart from you. Often, you have to report the progress of your business in detail so granting agency would know if you have spent the money for what it is intended or not.
“…Armed with this accurate information, your quest for money will lead you to something that is workable and realistic…” added H. Milla.
